New For the 2011 Summer Season, Party Line Rentals would like to introduce our Brand New Evaporative Coolers! What is an Evaporative Cooler?
An evaporative cooler produces effective cooling by combining a natural process - water evaporation - with a simple, reliable air-moving system. Fresh outside air is pulled through moist pads where it is cooled by evaporation and circulated through a house or building by a large blower. As this happens, the temperature of the outside air can be lowered as much as 30 degrees.
How does it work? Evaporative cooling is the same process your body uses to cool itself. When you perspire, and air moves across your skin, a portion of the perspiration (water) evaporates. Evaporation requires heat to change liquid water-to-water vapor and this heat is taken from your skin, producing the cooling effect. In an evaporative cooler, the cellulose cooling pads take the place of your skin, water instead of perspiration wets them and a fan moves the air. The air is drawn through the cooling pads and evaporates moisture. Heat is removed from the air, as it is drawn through the wet pads, dropping the air temperature and producing the cooling effect. The cooled air is then forced through a building or space and displaces the warm air out building openings, cooling the surroundings. In addition, air velocity increases the cooling effect as it moves over the skin or people in the airflow path. Why Choose Evaporative Cooling for Your Event? Thanks to a new awareness of energy efficiency, evaporative coolers are achieving a new popularity. Remember, our coolers use as much as 75 percent less electricity as air conditioning does. The Sacramento Municipal Utility District estimates the electricity savings at approximately $150 a year. Because the technology is simpler, an evaporative cooler costs about half as much as an air conditioner that will cool the same sized area. For perspective, a quick check of the Internet in July 2001, found units capable of cooling 750 square feet that were priced as low as $275. Installation costs of swamp coolers are comparable to air conditioning units. Evaporative coolers operate on 120-volt electricity, which means they don't need special high-amperage circuits like many air conditioners do. A swamp cooler can be plugged into a nearby outlet. Many people appreciate the fact that evaporative cooling adds moisture to the air, which helps to keep wood furniture and fabrics from drying out. The moist pads through which the outside air flows are also fairly efficient air filters, trapping some dust and pollen. Since the pads are continually wetted, trapped particles are flushed out and trapped in the bottom of the cooler. Air conditioning works best when the windows are closed, since interior air is cooled and recirculated. Because swamp coolers cool outside air and blow it into the tent, they work great outside! The cooled outside air vents through open windows or doors, pushing out hot inside air and any smoke, odors and pollution that may be present. With evaporative cooling, a complete air change in a home occurs every one-to-three minutes. This flow of fresh air means that evaporative coolers can be operated without using the water pump to replace warm stale air with cooler nighttime air, much like a whole house fan does. That's an added benefit. For the most part, evaporative cooling doesn't require as much ductwork as air conditioning which can save you alot of money. For a newly installed system, a short duct can direct the cooled air to a central point in the house. From there, air can be directed through the various rooms by simply opening and closing doors and windows to allow the cooled air to flow. Come In To PartyLine Rentals today to order yours today! |

Nine Easy Steps to a Better Lawn
Warm-season or cool, all lawns need proper care. Here's how to give your grass a great start. 1. Fertilize. Use a complete lawn fertilizer and apply it, following the recommendations printed on the label. Your lawn will be denser, greener, have fewer weeds and will resist insects and diseases. 2. Adjust your soil pH. If your soil is very acidic (likely, if you have abundant summer rainfall), apply powdered limestone to adjust the pH. Talk to the folks at your local nursery or someone at your local cooperative extension office for local advice. These people can help you test your soil pH and tell you the recommended amounts of lime to apply. 3. Control weeds. Apply a pre-emergent herbicide, a weed killer that also prevents weeds from reappearing later in the growing season. These herbicides are generally sold in granular form. Do this before weed seeds germinate. To kill broadleaf weeds that appear later, apply a "weed-and-feed" product. Again, timing varies with local conditions, so consult your local nursery for advice. Follow all label instructions carefully. 4. Know when to mow. Mow your lawn only when the grass has grown 30 to 50 percent higher than the recommended mowing height. For most cool-season grasses, the recommended height is 3 to 4 inches, so you'd cut when it's 4 to 6 inches high. For most warm-season grasses, the recommended height is 2 to 3 inches, so you'll mow when it's 3 to 4?/2 inches high. Mow all season, whenever the grass is 30 to 50 percent taller than the recommended height. If you don't let the grass grow too long between mowings, you can leave the clippings on the lawn rather than rake them up. The cut grasses will break down quickly and contribute organic matter and nitrogen to the soil. 5. Aerate. Aerators remove small plugs of grass and soil from the lawn, admitting air to the soil, breaking up mats of dead grass and debris that can accumulate at root level, and invigorating root growth. Aerating also helps water and nutrients penetrate the lawn. You can rent a power aerator at local rental company or hire a lawn-care company to power-aerate for you. The best power aerators work by driving little hollow pistons into the ground that remove tiny cores of soil. For small areas, aerate manually with a sod-coring tool, a special tool that resembles a garden fork.
6. Reseed. If your cool-season lawn is thin or spotty in places, reseed it. First, roughly rake the area with a steel rake with short, hard tines. Then spread fresh grass seed, following the recommended coverage rates on the seed package. Lightly cover the new seeds with mulch or other >organic matter, and then keep the area moist until the seeds germinate. | ![]()
7. De-thatch. Thatch is a thick, spongy layer of organic matter and debris that builds up between the grass blades and roots. By keeping water and nutrients from reaching the roots, thatch causes your lawn to grow poorly. Aerating will help to reduce thatch, and you can de-thatch small areas by raking vigorously with a steel rake. But to de-thatch large areas, it's best to rent a power rake or hire a lawn company to do the work for you. 8. Check your irrigation system. Each spring, check your irrigation system to make sure it's running properly. Repair clogged and broken sprinkler heads, then adjust your sprinklers so that water falls on the lawn instead of on sidewalks, driveways or patios. 9. Rolling right along...... Lawn Roller – What, When, How. There are several uses for lawn rollers. Knowing how and where to purchase or rent them is also essential when it comes time to use one. There are different types and uses for lawn rollers so we’ll look at a couple here. So why exactly would you use a lawn roller? There are several main, or popular, reasons for using lawn rollers. One is if you’re getting ready to seed or overseed your lawn and the other is if you’re laying sod. Another purpose, which really goes along with what we’ve suggested in all our lawn sweeper articles, is for smoothing out a lawn and making it more level for easier and more precise mowing. As we’ve stated many times before, lawn sweepers work the best on ground or yards that are level and void of any big mounds, bumps, roots, or ruts. So utilizing a lawn roller is a good way of improving the efficiency of your lawn sweepers. If you have a big mound in your yard, you can remove dirt from around the edges of the mound and then roll it with the lawn roller. Think of it sort of as a huge divot left by a golf ball and the process that goes into refilling your divot. And if you golf anything like I do, you have a lot of them! |

Everybody Report to the Dancefloor
A wise man once said,
"Its better to have a crowded dance floor than an empty one"
That wise man is Kenny Puff, and he just said that. The Dancefloor is the Heart of any event. The pulse of the Music fuels the good times and the Dancefloor is where it goes down! So you want the best dancefloor Money can buy, but it doesn't NEED to cost you an Arm and a Leg!
The Industry Standard is 4.5 Square Feet of dancefloor Per Guest at the wedding. OUR Standard is 3 Square Feet of dancefloor Per Guest because, as i said earlier, Its better to have a crowded dancefloor than an empty one! Not only will the dancefloor always be "Hoppin" but it will also keep a few Bucks in your pocket.
You can experience a joy that I'm not sure you can experience anywhere else, where you can actually let go and lose yourself in the one-ness of the dance floor. Where everyone is moving to the same beat. It's a very primal, very basic human experience.

11th Annual Westchester County Bridal Expo
The Tent at Lyndhurst
The Tent at Lyndhurst Dressed for our 2010 Christmas Party.
Party Line Tent Rentals, along with its parent companies, Westchester Party Rentals and Westchester Tool Rentals, wrapped up their 2010 by decking the halls in grand style! The Gala Holiday Tribute was held at the Event Tent at Lyndhurst, one of America’s finest Gothic Revival mansions and National Trust Historic Site located in Tarrytown, NY.
The evening was festive with over 225 invited guests; the focus: embracing time-honored holiday traditions… The evening unfolded with a tour of the castle decorated for the famous Holiday Fairy Tales which transforms 16 rooms into three-dimensional fairy tale themes – sugarplum visions come to life! The trees donned exquisite décor, adorned with Christopher Radko ornaments, the concept inspired by an inventory of children’s books at Lyndhurst. Mulled cider, fragrant home baked cookies and the echoes of a harpist added to the allure. Following the traditional path, horse and carriage rides replete with warm blankets were provided by Frank Castella Events enchanting both the young and young at heart.
Inside the event tent, provided by Party Line Tent Rentals, a winter wonderland enveloped all who entered… winter white drapery lined the interior tent which had clear panels on top, holiday trees were all aglow, a contemporary lounge and game room provided amusement for younger attendees and holiday music filled the air, courtesy of John the DJ. Family portraits were taken by James to provide memories of the occasion, and the fabulous fare was arranged by Philip Stone Catering. Honored guests included the staff and board of directors of Lyndhurst. Kenny Puff, owner and CEO of Party Line Tent Rentals, extended humble appreciation and gratitude for another successful year “I’m proud to say we are recognized as one of the top equipment and party rental suppliers in the NY Metro Region and highly regarded in the rental industry nationally thanks to my loyal customers, dedicated employees and a solid business foundation.” Mr. Puff then addressed the Lyndhurst Foundation and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, for providing Party Line Tent Rentals with the opportunity to be the exclusive event rental vendor for the Lyndhurst Estate. A 50’ x 100’ a beautiful white Event Tent stands in the Courtyard of The Carriage House. The tent is available for weddings and event rentals from May through December.
